Image
this tutorial is based on a Daily Creative Challenge by Voodoo Val on Behance https://www.behance.net/live/videos/3407/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Designing-with-Shapes?tracking_source=to_replay start with a square canvas with the shape tool, make a shape of your choice add shapes and arrange till you are happy (holding shift while dragging to make shapes will create a perfect circle or square) (hold shift and space bar will allow you to move the shape as you make it) use free transform to size your shapes as needed (hold shift to keep perspective) make sure your guides are showing as you move the shape to make sure you are centering on the horizontal and vertical as needed (this is under window-snap to) create a group from your shape layers by selecting all of them and clicking the group icon at bottom of layer panel then duplicate that group (cmd+J) merge your new group (with the group layer selected cmd+E) hide your original group layer, this is just a...

Old Man and the Sea Double Exposure

Image
Here is my final image I started with 3 images from Unsplash a picture of an old man by Madhav Rajesh a picture of the sea and a picture of rowboats cut out subject from background - I used select subject and then select and mask to refine my selection. Then as output method use new layer desaturate (command+shift+U) (I didn't make a clean selection because I didn't think it would make a difference in the final image) drag in second image lower opacity on the new layer to move and transform while seeing where you are placing it in reference to your subject image when you have it where you want, up the opacity back to 100% then command+click on you subject layer to load it as a selection and with the second image layer selected click on the mask icon at the bottom right to create a layer mask in the shape of your subject I also added a solid color background layer now you can paint on the canvas with the layer mask selected command...

Color Replace

Image
duplicate layer image - adjustments - replace color click image to see image in preview box click on the color in your image that you want to change and slide hue slider (you can click in the preview window or in the actual image) use the plus eyedropper to add to sample or the minus eyedropper to subtract you can drag the fuzziness slider to adjust the selection you can change saturation and lightness, but in general they work at 0. on this image I started with a sunflower image on a blue background layer. Then duplicated the sunflower layer (cmd+J), moved it to the left and applied the color replace adjustment. Then duplicated the original sunflower layer again, moved it to the right and applied a separate color replace adjustment to that layer.

Bubbles Tutorial (Photoshop User Magazine)

Image
If you are a Kelby One Member check out this awesome tutorial! Soap Bubble Fun Tutorial  from Kelby One Photoshop User Magazine September 2019 Issue my final image I also grouped all the bubble layers together at the end and moved them to their own document and saved that separately  Now I can apply the whole group of bubbles to a new image and hide some layers if I want The tutorial also shows you how to make a brush, so now you can use the brush on other images. Using the brush doesn't include all the reflections from the image but is still cool on its own.  This is on a beach picture with bubbles on a separate layer and set to color dodge.

Circular Color Wheel

Image
started with an image cut her out of the background with quick selection and quick mask then put her on separate layer with mask add a blank layer and put it between your 2 layers with your top image selected use single column marquee tool to select a line of your image and use the rectangle marquee tool and while holding option select parts of the line you don't want included (I deleted from the selection the areas above her head and below her feet     then go to edit - copy and with the middle blank layer selected go to edit - paste this will paste the single line you selected onto the blank layer now free transform (cmd+T) and hold down shift key as you drag out your selection then with the middle layer selected go to filter-distort-polar coordinates-rectangular to polar now you can move resize as you want you can also add a layer mask and erase parts of the circle for a more dramatic effect another example where I did the same steps of c...
