Drawing Faces 3/4 profile

start with basic circle shape
divide in half vertically with curved line
think of as a 3 dimensional sphere
and divide in half with curved line
follow the shape of the circle

the quadrants closer to you are larger than the quadrants farther away
so as you draw, the features farther away are smaller
draw a line dividing the bottom half the same as above
the middle line is the brow line and the line below is the eye line
then draw an oblong ellipse shape to represent where you head is flat on the closer side

center the closer eye between ellipse and center line and with eye line in middle
and draw the farther eye which will be smaller

the underlying skeletal features

the farther eye will be obscured by the nose a little
you don't have to follow circle perfectly, they are just guidelines
add the brows, females are not as thick as males
add nose
if you divide the farther eye in half with a curved line, middle of the nose will be near this line
the bottom of the circle is the nose line
it will also be skewed because of perspective
next is the jaw line and cheeks
follow the right side of circle around
almost or touching the eye (depending on character)
then pull cheek out in flowing line out down and around
from the closer side bring the jaw down from the inside of the ellipse and meet at the chin

draw a curved line between nose line and and chin for the mouth line
if you draw a triangle starting at the bridge of nose coming down to mouth line, the mouth will go between them
the side closer to you will be larger than the side farther away

ears will start at center line (eye line) and come down to about bottom of nose
and add neck and hair

Baby 3/4 profile

start with circle
add brow and eye lines
circles for eyes
add ellipse
draw in eyes and brows
nose will be higher up closer to eyes
jaw and cheeks are closer
and mouth
ears are smaller and round
smaller neck

Views
depending on where you draw the brow and eye lines, you can control which way the character is looking

Character
knowing the basic perspectives,
you can always break the rules for the character
starting with circle, brow and eye line high, nose is longer and more prominent, droopy eyes with bags underneath, small pupils, eyelids wrinkly and aged, eyebrows are bushy and big, angled cheekbone, big mustache, impression of a bottom lip (cuz top lip is covered by mustache) jaw is long and chin is big, cheek line to give gaunt look, age lines around nose and mouth, big stretched out exaggerated ears, squared off short forehead, bald on top with shaggy hair on sides
